Why it exists
To keep AI claims by two widely read writers on the record, with exact attribution, dated evidence, assessments you can inspect, and every revision visible. You can find a claim, read the original words and their conditions, check the evidence, see the current assessment, and see what changed since.
It covers selected claims by Gary Marcus and Ed Zitron, and no one else. It does not rank anyone or judge intent. The answer on the homepage is worked out by code from the claims the evidence settled. The method page gives the rule.

Where it started
The project grew out of the essay The most expensive kind of correct. The dataset behind that essay is a research input here, not a source of findings. Every record on this site passed the current rules on its own. See the method.
The code is open and general: anyone can run their own register for other public figures by changing one configuration file. See the repository.
Conflicts
AI models made by Anthropic and OpenAI draft and check every assessment. Some claims on this site are about those companies. Each claim page says so beside the assessment, and says it specifically when the claim is about Anthropic or OpenAI. Agreement between the models is a check, not proof.
If you know of a conflict that is not listed here, open an issue.
Limits
- It covers selected statements from two newsletters, inside stated date windows. See coverage.
- Paywalled posts are counted and not read.
- Assessments are automated reviews by AI models. Models can be wrong, and two models can make the same mistake.
- Each assessment uses the evidence available by its cutoff date. Later evidence can change it, and the change is recorded.
Corrections and disputes
Each claim page links to a GitHub issue form for disputes, with the claim and assessment filled in. GitHub requires a free account, and issues are public. The editor triages disputes. There is no other public contact address.
